Adeptol On Premise or Adeptol On Demand (CloudConnect)

What is the difference - CloudConnect^TM or On Premises?
CloudConnect - let's you enable your users to view documents directly from your server. No need to buy & set up AJAXDocumentViewer^TM server software, just connect to us in the cloud. You maintain your documents on your server and remain in control. You can even add your own brand with the Personalization feature. You do not have to upload your documents to our servers and it is real time view. Simply connect your documents through our server and your users can see documents in a viewer with full rights management around them.

On Premises - means you are purchasing the AJAX Document Viewer Server licenses and installing and setting them in house on your servers. You will need to maintain the servers, pay for license fees of OS, Adeptol Server & maintenance costs and upgrade costs. You remain in full control of your documents and your document viewing occurs directly from your server.
 

Which product of Adeptol is On Premises and which is Off Premises?
CloudConnect Product is Software as a Service offering or Off Premises and you pay annual fees to use it.
AJAXDocumentViewer^TM Professional Edition, AJAXDocumentViewer^TM Enterprise Edition, Annotation Services are all On Premises Products and you pay regular licensing to purchase these.
 

Which is faster?
Of course, On Premises is faster as documents are local on your server and you have full control.
In Cloudconnect^TM the document copy is downloaded to Adeptol Server, rendered and then displayed in viewer. In On Premisis, since document is local there is no need to create a copy of document and it is simply rendered and displayed in viewer.

Should I be concerned about security in CloudConnect service?
If you are handling secure confidential documents then you should go for On Premises solution. You can hear a lot many things in the market that Software as a Service model is maturing, security is no longer an issue in cloud and blah blah. But point is - if you are concerned about security of your documents or you are handling mission critical information, On Premises is the answer. Period.

Now that being said, we have done a lot of work on CloudConnect to make your documents secure. 1) We never keep a copy of your documents on our servers for more than 30 minutes. Most of the time they will get deleted once a user has viewed the document. 2) You can use 256 bit SSL for all your communications with Adeptol servers. 3) You can submit all your documents and through a secure post submit call. 4) You can switch off printing, copying and saving on your documents using CloudConnect API call making it even more secure.

Can I start with CloudConnect and then purchase the On Premises licenses?
Sure enough. But please note that CloudConnect fee is non refundable and cannot be applied as credit towards On Premises License costs. You will need to purchase new server licenses for deployment on your site.



I have a small website right now, with couple hundred users. Which option would be more suitable?
For smaller websites, with lesser users and no document security issues, CloudConnect is the way to go. As your site becomes larger, you can purchase server licenses and bring everything in house. CloudConnect let's you get up and running in less than 2 minutes and you don't have to worry about large capital investment upfront.
